Mayor of London Sadiq Khan poses for a selfie with onlookers as revellers take part in London Pride, the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender (LGBT) parade in London The team behind popular Soho nightspot Circa on Wednesday inked a deal to invest in opening another LGBT-friendly venue in London.
Circa’s owner Baby Bull has signed a long lease to take over more than 7000 square feet at Hungerford House on Victoria Embankment. No price was revealed.
It plans to transform the property to include a nightclub in the basement, where LGBT-friendly club nights will be hosted, and all-day dining and drinking space on the ground floor.
Emma Cousins at property firm CDG Leisure, which brokered the deal, said: “The popularity of Circa has illustrated a demand for more LGBT-friendly venues in the capital.”
She added that she expects the new site “to become a much-needed addition to London’s nightlife scene”, boosted by its central location and high footfall in the area.
A report last year warned that more than half the capital’s LGBT+ venues have closed in the past decade.
