She was just 34.

The cycle 8 model, known for her tattoos and punk style, announced her stage 4 breast cancer diagnosis just two months ago.

On her GoFundMe page, a statement reads: ‘Today we lost our earth angel and she is back in the spirit world from which she came.

It added: ‘We know she will be watching over all of us.’

Tyra Banks, who fronts the long-running reality series, paid tribute.

‘Top Model has lost a beautiful soul,’ she said on Twitter. ‘We will all remember Jael and her fun-loving spirit and beautiful song.’

Two months ago, Jael said she was going through her second round of chemotherapy.

‘The misery is indescribable,” she wrote on Facebook, describing the treatment.

Around Halloween, Jael ceased treatment and moved into a hospice.

On her first night, she said: ‘So many things I never knew about life. Or death. So many things.’

In 2012, Jael became infamous when Dr Phil hosted an intervention with the meth-addicted model.

Four years later, in recovery and sober, she came out as a lesbian.

In an interview with WetPaint, she said she had struck up a relationship with fellow Cycle 8 star Renee Alway, who’s in prison.

‘[Renee] was the first person when I got out of treatment and got my phone back … she was the first person that called me.

‘This was before she was incarcerated and she alluded to the fact that she really sympathized with the situation and she understood more than I knew.

‘We’re both lesbians, we were both closeted and we both had drug problems. We spent some time together and got a real relationship.’
