(6KDFM) A 19-year-old Texas politician has claimed that he was targeted with a smear campaign when his nude pictures were leaked because of his sexuality.
Cross Coburn was elected as a councilman for Ward 1 in November.
Since taking his position, in which he ran unopposed, Cosburn has faced backlash after naked pictures which he exchanged on Grindr were released last month.
The pictures were sent to officials alongside a note which read: “Is this in any way proper behaviour of a councilman to represent himself online or a “dating” app? I felt the City Council should be made aware.”
Speaking to CBS , the teenager claimed that the pictures were released because he is a “young gay man”.
“I felt like I was being harassed, discriminated against, ’cause I’m a young gay man on Groves City Council,” he said. (Photo by Jesse Grant/Getty Images) Social justice movements come and go like trains through a station. A shiny campaign is launched, people get motivated but sooner or later it drops out of the social media stratosphere and people go back to an occasional outraged tweet.
The #MeToo movement is one of the latest campaigns to join the long list of things that we’re angry about and so far, the fight has been strong.
More and more women in Hollywood and other big industries are coming out to talk about the abuse and harassment they have suffered and naming the names of their abusers.
From the likes of Weinstein, who has had over 80 women accuse him of sexual misconduct to Kevin Spacey, who came out as gay in a misguided attempt to excuse his alleged abuse of young male actors such as Anthony Rapp , the movement is uncovering the worst of the abusers and no longer giving them a veil to hide behind.
That is why it’s so shocking that Katy Perry, a singer who champions herself as a feminist and LGBTQ+ ally, has been acting like nothing short of a predator on the revival season of American Idol.

A Philadelphia council has shut down two foster agencies after they were found to be discriminating against LGBT carers.
The two agencies, named Bethany Christian Services and Catholic Social Services have received about $3 million in funding from the city council to arrange the care of foster children.
The funded state-based agencies have been found to discriminate against LGBT+ couples wishing to adopt, have not taken on LGBT carers on their client books, an investigation by The Inquirer has revealed.
A same-sex couple who approached Bethany Christian Services about becoming foster parents were turned away in October. Catholic Social Services told the Inquirer and Daily News it also does not work with LGBTQ people interested in being foster parents, though it knew of no inquiries from same-sex couples.
However, the 233 children placed with families through the organizations will remain in their homes.
“Our goal is to minimize placement disruptions (moving children between foster homes), and to ensure that a child’s ability to reunify with their family of origin or to continue an adoption process is not delayed because of a placement disruption,” said Department of Human Services Heather Keather. The department is also reviewing policies of all 26 foster care agencies on their books. Here […]
(Twitter/gibson_house and Getty) A Democrat has risen up to challenge the Republican who called school shooting survivor Emma Gonzalez “a skinhead lesbian”.
Leslie Gibson was the only person in the District 57 race for a place in Maine’s House of Representatives when he lashed out at the bisexual head of Stoneman Douglas High School’s Gay-Straight Alliance.
Together with fellow students like David Hogg and Cameron Kasky , the 18-year-old activist has prompted a tidal wave of public sentiment in favour of better gun regulations following the shooting in Florida, which killed 17. (Getty) Gibson, reportedly in his 60s, targeted the teenager as all brave people do: through his Twitter account with 74 followers.
“There is nothing about this skinhead lesbian that impresses me and there is nothing that she has to say unless you’re a frothing at the mouth moonbat,” he wrote. Emma Gonzalez hugs her father (Getty) In another tweet, he said that Gonzalez should not be called a survivor because she “was in a completely different part of the school” when her fellow students were shot dead.
The tweets prompted outrage and a call from local organisers – as well as Hogg, who Gibson called a “bald-faced liar” – for […]

(Getty) Oh, the growing pains of youth.
We all remember the backne, the bad spectacles, the awkwardly positioned teeth, and the blistering romantic rejection that haunted our adolescent days.
But then, we emerged, like butterflies from the chrysalis, ready to take on whatever terrible problems the world threw at us with a significantly more attractive face.
This, my friends, is what the friends in the bizz call a ‘glo-up’ – and the beautiful masses are sharing their physical rejuvenation on Twitter to celebrate this miraculous process.
Compiled in one artful Twitter moment , these glo-ups deserve one mighty round of applause.
“THE GLO UP WAS REAL! 2012 vs 2018 ” tweeted @sorryimangiiee when she shared this snap. “At 18 I looked 15 and now at 23 I look 18,” joked @cheyeperedo. “Y’all, I got hot,” said @petcatslonghair. And @codyxhighroller wrote nothing but the date next to their marvellous transformation. “2012 vs 2018 HAHAHHAHAHAHAH,” wrote @humanstrawberry. “2012 2018 Lmaoooooooooo,” tweeted @XLukaKillianX. “2012: DOG, 2018: ANOTHER DOG,” shared @sarryxpotter. And of course, the best thing about this whole process isn’t necessarily the aesthetic enhancement – it’s just how good everyone is feeling in their own skin. But hell, here’s a before and after from yours truly: PinkNews […]
