(Getty) Hit show Transparent looks unlikely to return to screens this year for a fifth series after the show’s lead was expelled from the cast after being accused of a swathe of sexual assault allegations.
The announcement comes two weeks after the studio said that they would not be inviting disgraced actor Jeffrey Tambor to continue as Maura Pfefferman in the hit series.
With this in mind, creator Jill Soloway and the studio have pushed back filming to begin at the end of the year, possibly in December, Hollywood Reporter said in an exclusive .
The actor, who plays transgender lead Maura, was ejected from the show when co-star Trace Lysette – alleged that the actor had “made many sexual advances and comments”.
The actor’s former assistant also accused the actor of groping her and making inappropriate comments. He also threatened her in case she shared her experiences. “I am profoundly disappointed in Amazon’s handling of these false accusations against me,” Tambor said in a statement.
“I am even more disappointed in Jill Soloway’s unfair characterization of me as someone who would ever cause harm to any of my fellow cast mates. In our four-year history of working together on this incredible show, these […]
A married couple who live separately and are in a platonic relationship have been officially appointed as the legal guardians of their surrogate child.
The partnership, where one half of the couple is gay, knew of each other’s sexual orientation before they got married.
As a consequence, a senior family court ruled that the marriage and parenthood still stood, in spite of the platonic nature of the union, reported The i .
“There is, as Ms Fottrell has demonstrated, no ground upon which the marriage could be declared voidable, let alone void,” ruled Sir James Munby, president of the Family Division of the High Court. “There can be no question of the marriage being a sham. In short, the marriage is a marriage. The fact that it is platonic, and without a sexual component, is, as a matter of long-established law, neither here nor there and in truth no concern of the judges or of the State,” said the president in the senior ruling.
“The applicants were indeed, and remain, married to each other,” he said in a ruling made public on Tuesday.
The judge also added that although the homes of the couple were separate, they were still the familiar and only homes […]
(Getty) World-renowned physicist Stephen Hawking, a long-time campaigner for LGBT rights, has died aged 76.
The British scientist was diagnosed with Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), a rare form of motor neurone disease, at 21, and given two years to live.
The condition left him wheelchair-bound, able to speak only with a voice synthesiser, but over the next half-century, Hawking became world-famous as he transformed our understanding of physics. (Getty) He died peacefully at his Cambridge home in the early hours of this morning, his family said.
In 2012, Hawking called on the government to pardon gay war hero Alan Turing , who was convicted of ‘gross indecency’ in 1952 after having sex with a man.
Turing was chemically castrated, barred from working for GCHQ, and took his own life at 41-years-old.
In an open letter, Hawking called Turing “one of the most brilliant mathematicians of the modern era” and urged then-Prime Minister David Cameron to “forgive this British hero, to whom we owe so much as a nation, and whose pioneering contribution to computer sciences remains relevant even today.” (Getty) And last year, the British Government issued a pardon for men convicted of having sex with other men. The pardon affected around 49,000 […]
(Instagram/desmondisamazing) New York City Pride organisers have been accused of making the event a “celebration of paedophilia” for putting a 10-year-old “drag kid” at the front and centre of its advertising campaign.
Desmond Napoles, known better as ‘Desmond is Amazing’, is part of the ‘Defiantly Different’ 2018 Pride.
Speaking in the campaign ad, the youngster explains that he identifies as an “androgynous drag kid” who knows he is “different”.
“I am very young and doing drag at a very young age. (Instagram/desmondisamazing) “It makes me feel amazing. It gives me courage and also gives other people courage to do what they want,” he says in the ad.
Some people have taken offence to Desmond’s love for drag and confidence in performing.
Michelle Cretella, president of the conservative group the American College of Paediatricians, has said that the Pride event would be a “celebration of paedophilia” is it allows young children to perform.“As a paediatrician, I will go one step farther and say that the parents of these children and others promoting this are guilty of paedophilic grooming“Our culture is morally blind and has suppressed the scientific facts about homosexuality and transgenderism,” she told CBN. Cretella has a long history of anti-LGBTQ rhetoric as […]
(Photo by ANWAR AMRO/AFP/Getty Images) Politicians in Lebanon have called for the government to decriminalise same-sex sexual intercourse.
Right-wing Christian Democrat party, the Kataeb party, announced plans to scrap the law on television over the weekend.
Discussing a 131-step plan that the party will put in place if they win the May 6 elections, officials from the party stressed that it was a crucial part of their social agenda to scrap the current criminalising laws.
Currently, article 534 of the Lebanese Penal Code prohibits sexual relations that are “contradicting the laws of nature”.
The law is technically punishable with jail time of up to a year.
However, numerous courts in the country have ruled that the article should not be used to arrest people for engaging in same-sex sex. This means that it is de facto legal. (Getty) However, police in the country are still believed to use the law to persecute the community.Kataeb is one of the first mainstream parties in government to speak about the decriminalisation.Activists have said that if article 534 is scrapped, it will bring dramatic improvement to LGBTQ equality in the middle eastern country. The executive director of Arab Foundation for Freedom and Equality, Georges Azzi, told GSN that the promise […]
They said he’d wouldn’t outlive his twenties, but world-renowned physicist and LGBT pioneer Stephen Hawking but he proved them wrong.
It was announced on March 14, 2018 that Stephen Hawking had passed away aged 76 .
Alongside his ground-breaking scientific research, which applied new ideas to the theories of general relativity and black holes, Stephen Hawking was a passionate campaigner for LGBT equality.
He suffered from debilitating Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), a rare form of motor neurone disease, throughout his life which gradually paralysed him – but all the while Hawking continued to research and teach at Cambridge University. (Getty) As well as his scientific expertise Hawking had a keen sense of humour, and made numerous TV appearances. The scientist will live on through his bizarre, light-hearted guest spots on The Simpsons, Futurama and Big Bang Theory.
Here are some of the most inspirational things he said. “We are all different, but we share the same human spirit”

(Facebook/the las vegas lounge and jennifer hallie) A shooting at a transgender club has left one person injured.
The Las Vegas Lounge, one of very few specifically trans clubs in the US, was shot at multiple times in the early hours of February 23.
The attack left one clubgoer with a gunshot wound to the leg. (Facebook/the las vegas lounge) Police have said that the shooter approached the club on foot and fired at the building from outside.
Jennifer Hallie, general manager of the Lounge, wrote on Facebook that “there was no altercation, there was no interaction whatsoever with the suspect.”
She added: “Unfortunately one of our girls was injured but law enforcement assured us she will make a full recovery. (Facebook/Jennifer Hallie) “We have had many trying times through the years, and though we may bend we will not be broken by this,” she vowed.
“We are still open for business, and are still proud to serve our community.”However, she told local station KVVU-TV that it was “scary” to see her club – which has served the Las Vegas trans community for 19 years – be the target of a shooting.Hallie added: “Your gut instinct is that this is a hate crime, but […]
Susie Green at the PinkNews Awards (Photo by Chris Jepson for PinkNews) The CEO of transgender children’s charity Mermaids has been targeted with threats and abuse – in the wake of a string of negative press coverage of their work.
Mermaids, a support group for families of transgender and gender non-confirming children, has been the target of repeated media attacks over the past few months amid an uptick in an anti-trans narrative across much of the British press.
The Sunday Times recently admitted details of a story it published criticising the charity were untrue.
And as anti-trans sentiment increases, Mermaids CEO Susie Green – a PinkNews Award winner and herself the parent of a transgender child – has been targeted with a spate of abuse and threats.
PinkNews understands that West Yorkshire Police is investigating abusive messages sent to the CEO.
Although many messages have been removed, PinkNews found a string of tweets from anti-transgender campaigners that remain online accusing Ms Green of “castrating” her transgender daughter, comparing her to “child abusers or paedophiles”, and calling for her to be prosecuted or jailed. Immigration centre (Photo by Paula Bronstein/Getty Images) A straight Muslim man has faced unprecedented media backlash after he lied about his sexuality and religion in order to attempt to get his Australian visa extended.
The man, who has only be identified as MAH, is from Iraq but moved to Australia in 1999.
He suffers mental health issues including schizophrenia and has been convicted for over 28 offences including assault.
In December 2016, his visa was terminated by Australian Immigration authorities and Minister Peter Dutton called for MAH to be detained in Villawood Detention Centre.
While there, MAH brought forward an appeal to the Administrative Appeals Tribunal (AAT) and claimed that because he had converted to Christianity and homosexuality, he would be persecuted if he were to return to Iraq.
The claims were found to have no truth. Moonlight director Barry Jenkins (Photo by MARK RALSTON/AFP/Getty Images) Moonlight director Barry Jenkins has read the Oscars acceptance speech he was so publicly prevented from giving.
The film, a loving portrait of a gay African-American man, was the winner of Best Picture at the 2017 Academy Awards – but the moment will mostly be remembered for a mix-up that saw La La Land erroneously named the winner.
Barry Jenkins, the director of Moonlight, has spoken previously about how the famous fail robbed him of the moment to deliver the acceptance speech he had planned, having been called up on stage only after several La La Land crew members had made speeches.
But Jenkins attempted to right the wrong this week at the SXSW film festival – where he got his first creative break as a young filmmaker a decade ago. (Photo by VALERIE MACON/AFP/Getty Images) Stepping onto the stage, the filmmaker said he would like to use the moment to “read something” to the audience – without initially revealing what it was.
In the speech he paid tribute to Tarell Alvin McCraney, the playwright whose work Moonlight is based on, and spoke about the importance of self-acceptance. (Photo by Kevork Djansezian/Getty Images) He […]
